Description
Presently the home of Sherwood Real Estate and The Richford Antique and Craft Center.Broker /owner of Sherwood Real Estate owned. The registered trademark `The Pink Lady` will be conveyed to the buyer with the property. All original woodwork. Also, the building is featured in the East Coast Victorian book. 3 floor sprinkler system. Caretaker`s apartment is in the back. The Pink Lady is a 21 room very full antique shop with 8 bathrooms. the business may be sold with the building and the inventory is negotiable. The building is the most visible and attractive building on Main St. next to the post office. The antique shop does a very sucessfull E-bay business and as it is positioned next to the post office and across the street from a UPS shipping service. There is much potential for an E-bay operation to be further developed where consignors could bring their items to sell and store and sell on consignment.Since the owner works 7 days a week selling real estate she is unable to develop the E-bay business and the Antique Shop which should be really promoted could do much more business. The building during WW11 was used as an 8 unit apt. house but now there is a deed restriction that it may not be turned back into an apt. building. The following is the desc.of the building as it appears in 2 pages of the" East Coast Victorian Book". "This house near the Canadian Border was originally the home of Silas Pratt Carpenter, a local entrepreneur. Besides business ventures in land and real estate in the Richford area, Carpenter served as the town’s treasurer and as the local U.S. customs collector. Though no hard evidence has survived to confirm the suspicion, the house is believed to have been constructed by local builders. If so, it seems likely that they were working from a stock plan. In any event, the design is quite similar to that of the Weiss House in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Both structures are organized symmetrically and their facades are dominated by a central bay topped by the mansardic equivalent of a gable. This rather formal arrangement was typical of early Second Empire houses. Also of note in the Carpenter House are the contrasting curves of the roof and the incised motifs that appear on the porch and in the window surrounds. In recent years, the house has been restored and converted for use as an office building." This historic home is also offered by licensed Vermont real estate owner/broker Margo Sherwood in the MLS . please go to www.realtor.com and search for mls.no. 2701990a for more photos and info. thank you.
